Tap, tap, tap. Victoria opened her eyes. There, glowing softly against the midnight-blue window, was Atlas, his golden eyes bright as two little moons.
“I found a village,” Atlas whispered, “where all the smiles have gone missing. The people have forgotten how good it feels to be happy.”
Victoria did not have magic. But she had something better. She had a plan, a warm heart, and a very silly dragon who was, quite possibly, too fond of tacos.
So they flew — over sleepy rooftops and drifting clouds — toward a town that had forgotten how to laugh.
